What is a TXID?

A TXID, or Transaction ID, is a unique identifier assigned to each transaction on a blockchain. It serves as a digital fingerprint, allowing users to track and verify specific transactions within the network.

What Does TXID Mean in the Crypto World?

In the crypto world, a TXID is like a receipt number for transactions. It allows users to confirm that their transaction has been processed and is easily accessible on the blockchain. Crypto enthusiasts use TXIDs to verify transaction status, resolve disputes, or provide proof of payment.

How to Use the Term

Let’s say you’ve just sent Bitcoin to a friend. After initiating the transaction, it’s assigned a TXID, which might look something like this:

5e1d9a7a8c1234abcd5678efgh9012ijkl3456mnop7890qrstuvwx123456yz

To verify the transaction, you can enter this TXID into a blockchain explorer like Blockchain.com or Blockchair. The explorer will display details about the transaction, including the amount sent, the sending and receiving addresses, the transaction’s status, and the time it was confirmed.

This TXID helps you confirm that the transaction was successfully processed and recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain.
